Product Description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. La Tour Melas is a small Greek winery located in the village of Achinos. It began operations in 2000 with the planting of its first vineyards. Today, the company produces excellent wines, blending French philosophy with Greek traditions. Cyrus One is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Agiorgitiko, hand-picked from the youngest vineyards (approximately 25 years old) in Nemea and Achinos. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc come from Achinos, in central Greece. Here, the calcareous clay soils and the proximity to the sea create ideal conditions for these varietals. Agiorgitiko, on the other hand, comes from the Peloponnese, where the silty, calcareous soils favor the grape's fresh, fruity expression. After harvest, the grapes are fermented separately. The finished wine is then aged in oak vats of various sizes for approximately one and a half years. Conceived as a second label, in the style of the great Bordeaux Chateaux, Cyrus One reveals a medium-intense ruby color. Its aromatic profile is intense with notes of ripe dark fruit, sweet spices, and tobacco. On the palate, it is round and smooth. It has good concentration and balanced acidity, a medium body, and a medium to long, fruity finish. It is a wine of good depth that can be enjoyed immediately and can also be cellared for a couple of years. Try it with pork and pasta with meat sauce.
