Founded in 1934 by Pietro De Martino, the Chilean De Martino winery, one of the most prestigious in South America, is located a short distance from Santiago, Chile, in the Maipo subregion. Today, the company remains in the hands of the De Martino family, now in its fourth generation, who manage it with a visionary approach and the utmost respect for tradition and terroir. The Carmenere grapes are selected from a vineyard located in the Maipo Valley area, which was planted between 1992 and 1998. Here, the vines benefit from a Mediterranean climate influenced by the Pacific Ocean and alluvial soils with gravel and clay. After manual harvesting and cold maceration, fermentation proceeds with indigenous yeasts. Finally, the wine ages for 15 months in used barrels and casks. Legado Reserva Carmenere is a structured red wine that reveals an intense aromatic profile on the nose, with sweet notes of ripe dark fruit and spicy hints, followed by nuances of leather, musk, and licorice. On the palate, it is concentrated and juicy, balanced and complex, with firm yet ripe tannins and a long, delicately spicy finish. Try it with grilled steak or short ribs.
