La Doria Gavi 2022, Piedmont

Gavi is one of the most popular white wines in Piedmont, and this vineyard's territory extends from the Po Valley to the Ligurian Apennines, covering eleven different municipalities. Legend has it that the name Gavi is linked to a princess, daughter of the king of the Franks Clodomiro, who was called Gavia. She was in love with a man who was not approved of at court and took refuge in the village that now corresponds to region of Gavi. Thanks to the help of the Pope, the lovers were able to stay together and had a son, after which the village took the name in her honour.
