Weissbier, also known as 'Weißbier' or 'Weizenbier', is a traditional German wheat beer. The name translates to 'white beer' and it is characterised by its light colour and cloudy appearance. A significant proportion of wheat in addition to barley gives it a smooth and creamy texture. This is a standout alcohol-free brew from one of Munich's most renowned breweries, Paulaner. Established in 1634 by the Paulaner Order of mendicant friars, the brewery has a rich history that stretches back nearly four centuries. Known for being one of the six breweries that supplies beer for Oktoberfest, Paulaner is steeped in Bavarian tradition. This is brewed according to the Bavarian Beer Purity Law, ensuring only the finest ingredients are used. The alcohol is carefully removed after maturing, preserving the beer's complex flavours. Expect malty cereal notes with classic weissbier hints of banana and sweet spices.
