Ridge Pagani Ranch Zinfandel 2022

Cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. Ridge Vineyards is one of the great advocates for single-vineyard wine-making in California. The winery’s story begins at the end of the 19th century, when Osea Perrone transformed a stretch of land at the top of Monte Bello Ridge, near San Francisco. However, almost 100 years passed before the production of the first Zinfandel - an intense, full-blooded wine that would lay the foundation for the rest. This Zinfandel was harvested from the Pagani Ranch vineyard, in the cool terroir of Sonoma Valley. It is made from 90% Zinfandel, with small amounts of Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. It begins with a rich bouquet of red and blue fruits. As the wine opens up, you can also discover supporting scents of chocolate, tobacco, and baking spice. These flavours carry through to the palate, where silky tannins and fresh acidity combine for a velvety yet full-bodied mouthfeel. You can find plenty of spice, along with strong notes of blueberry, ripe cherry and cassis. Hints of eucalyptus and oak appear on the finish. It is a perfect companion for rich, meaty dishes such as steak frites, braised beef, or barbecue.
