Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Reichersdorf, in Austria's picturesque Traisental Valley, Weingut Markus Huber is an acclaimed and award-winning family-run winery that produces exceptionally high-quality wines, a true expression of their terroir. Markus took over the company from his father in 2000, expanding the vineyards and beginning to produce wine for retail, rather than just for the family restaurant. Since then, the winery has adopted a philosophy centered on quality and precision, incorporating a sustainable and energy-efficient approach in both the cellar and the vineyard. The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from organically farmed vineyards situated in Nussdorf ob der Traisen, which benefit from limestone soils and a southeast exposure. After harvesting and fermenting in large oak barrels, the wine ages in oak for a year. In the glass, the Pinot Noir Alte Reben reveals a fruity aromatic profile with notes of ripe raspberries and small red berries, followed by hints of violets and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is rounded and polished, elegant and juicy with good structure and a long finish that recalls toasted and smoky notes. It is fresh and lively and pairs well with pheasant and turkey, but also with pork paté. Slightly chilled, it is also an excellent red for the summer days.
