iMatorras Don Jose Malbec 2023

It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. iMatorras Bodegas y Viñedos is a young Argentine winery founded by five friends with a passion for wine and located in the Uco Valley. The winery produces three lines of wines under the guidance of winemakers Gerardo Michelini and Manuel Sonzogni, using grapes from the region's finest terroirs. The winery's name is inspired by the life of national hero Don José de San Martín and his mother, Gregoria Matorras, as a symbol of freedom and love for their country. The Malbec grapes are selected and harvested by hand from the eighty-year-old Finca La Meli vineyard, located in San José, in the Mendoza wine region at 1,200 meters above sea level. Here, the vines thrive on sandy and loamy soils. After vinification in concrete tanks, the wine ages for about a year in used oak barrels before bottling. The result is a full-bodied and rich wine, with an intense and brilliant dark red color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and expressive, with notes of plum, blackberry, and cherry, followed by floral hints of violet and a touch of sweet spices. On the palate, it is soft, round, and generous. It is fruity and balanced with smooth tannins and a long, concentrated, and persistent finish. Try it with grilled meats, pulled pork, or meat-filled cannelloni.
