ABOUT THE WINE. Founded in 2007 by eighth-generation siblings Ludovic, Julien and Benoît Cellier (with Nathalie Cellier), Domaine les 3 Cellier farms 13.4 hectares exclusively in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The 2023 release is a classic, Grenache-led blend (with Syrah, Mourvèdre and the traditional cépages) drawn from the estate’s patchwork of parcels. Hand-picked fruit, gentle extractions and élevage designed to showcase purity deliver a poised, terroir-true expression with immediate charm.. TASTING NOTES. Vibrant and perfumed – black cherry, red plum and kirsch glide into garrigue (thyme, rosemary), white pepper and a touch of liquorice/cigar box. The palate is supple and medium-full, with polished, fine-grained tannins and a juicy core of red–black fruit. Freshness and spice carry through to a long, savoury finish.. FOOD PAIRING. Brilliant with grilled pork or herb-roast chicken, lamb cutlets with rosemary, duck breast, or Provençal dishes such as ratatouille and aubergine with olive tapenade. Also lovely with aged Comté or Tommes.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. A beautifully balanced 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape that leans into purity and drinkability without sacrificing depth. Delicious now after a brief decant.
