Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Philipp Grassl comes from a family with a long tradition of winemaking dating back to the 18th century, but the first bottled wine did not arrive until the 1950s. In 2006, Philipp took over the company and his wines quickly gained recognition among critics and the public. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2015, and biodynamic practices have been introduced since 2019, with the aim of producing wines that reflect the incredible diversity of the region's terroirs. Ried Neuberg is a blend of Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and a small part of Merlot from the Neuberg vineyard, whose name refers to its favorable location. Here the vines, about 25 years old, enjoy a slight slope towards the south-east, and protection from the wind. After the harvest and fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature, the finished wine rests in wooden barrels and tonneaux (half of which are new). In the glass, the wine reveals an intense color with dark ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is fresh and broad with notes of cherry, blackberry, cassis, and plum followed by spicy hints. On the palate, it is powerful and concentrated with a strong character and firm tannins. It has a good body and a long, slightly spicy finish. It is the ideal wine for game, grilled red meat, and mature cheeses.
