Gérard Bertrand Heritage Pic St Loup, Languedoc, 2023/24

Gérard Bertrand was a professional rugby player who, later in life, took over the family winemaking estate and is a pioneer in biodynamic and sustainable winemaking. He now manages several sites around the South of France, and the Pic Saint Loup vineyards are among the most celebrated in the Languedoc. Known for their high-altitude limestone soils, and Mediterranean climate, the vineyards are planted with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache, which are used in the final blend of this wine. One-third of the wine is aged in oak barrels for nine months, adding depth and complexity, while the rest is kept in vats to preserve fresh fruit flavours. The result is an elegant wine with intense red fruit and soft spices, alongside a hint of toasty oak. Enjoy with grilled peppers, red meats, and mature cheese.
