ABOUT THE WINE. Magnum (1.5L) – Petit-Figeac is the second wine of the legendary Château Figeac, Premier Grand Cru Classé (A) in Saint-Émilion. True to the estate’s gravel-rich terroir and Cabernet identity on the Right Bank, Petit-Figeac is crafted with the same rigor as the grand vin, offering a more immediate, fruit-forward expression.Vintage 2020 was a warm, beautifully balanced year at Figeac – generous ripeness met by vibrant freshness. The blend centres on Merlot for plush mid-palate charm, supported by Cabernet Franc for perfume and lift, and Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and length.. TASTING NOTES. Brilliant ruby with a glossy edge. Aromas of ripe redcurrant and black cherry, fresh violets and graphite, with subtle cedar and cocoa. The palate is silky yet energetic – juicy red and black fruits, cool mineral drive and fine, powdery tannins. Poised and pure, finishing long with hints of tobacco leaf and spice.. FOOD PAIRING. Herb-crusted lamb or roast beef; duck with cherry jus; wild-mushroom risotto; truffle pasta; hard cheeses like Comté or Gruyère. Decant 30–45 minutes and serve at 16–18°C.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. Magnums age more slowly and pour perfectly for the table – ideal for gatherings. Petit-Figeac 2020 captures the estate’s hallmark finesse with extra vintage amplitude.
