Located in the Geelong wine region of Australia, By Farr is a small winery founded in the early 1990s and now run by Nick Farr, son of founders Gary and Robyn. Irrewarra is a project started by Nick Farr over 10 years ago, in the Western District of Victoria, west of Melbourne. The Pinot Noir grapes are selected from the Calvert family-owned Irrewarra vineyard, planted in 2001 at the top of a north-facing slope. The name comes from an Aboriginal term meaning "long spear throw". Here the vines enjoy a soil composed of a mixture of sandy silt to the south and dark brown loam with gravel to the north. The humid climate of the area and the clay composition promote good moisture in the soil and create the ideal conditions for the production of Pinot Noir. This beautiful Pinot Noir has a deep and brilliant ruby ​​color and a broad and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of fresh red fruits and forest berries, earthy and peppery hints. It is a lively and well-structured wine with a good complexity of flavors. On the palate, it is characterized by a refreshing acidity and soft tannins. The finish is long and gently spicy. Try it with mushroom risotto or herbed guinea fowl.
