Product Description
ABOUT THE WINE. Classified as a 3eme Cru Classe. The first reference to Chateau Giscours making wine dates back to 1552; it was confiscated during the French revolution and sold to two Americans. Chateau Giscours name cannot be dissociated with Pierre Skawinski, who worked there for over 50 years as a manager. During his time at Giscours he came up with the idea that everything in the cellar should be moved by gravity. While most châteaux use gravity today in their cellar, this was a revolutionary development at the time. Chateau Giscours has over 100 hectares planted in the Margaux appellation. Vinification takes place in a mixture of stainless steel vats and concrete tanks. The wine is aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak.. TASTING NOTES. An exceptionally elegant Giscours, with wonderful red-berry purity, intermingled with orange-peel and cedar. The tannins are fine, and the finish is bright and refreshing – a very refined expression of Margaux.. FOOD PAIRING. Complex dishes, red meat cooked in a simple way, hard cheese.. FRIARWOOD SAYS:. This wine is already showing very well and should continue to evolve gracefully until 2028.
