Discover all the wines from Domaines Devillard. ABOUT THE WINE. Château de Chamirey is a historic 95-hectare estate with 37 hectares under vine, located in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise. The jewel of the estate is La Mission – a Premier Cru white wine vineyard exclusively owned by the château, making it a rare monopole. Perched above the village of Chamirey, the vineyard benefits from ideal south-east exposure and clay-limestone soils that lend both structure and finesse. The estate, owned by the Devillard family since the 1930s, was one of the first in Mercurey to bottle its own wines, establishing a reputation for quality and terroir expression.. TASTING NOTES. The 2023 vintage of La Mission Premier Cru Blanc is a beautifully precise expression of Mercurey Chardonnay. The nose opens with lifted aromas of white flowers, citrus zest and toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, the wine is vibrant yet creamy, with layered notes of lemon curd, green apple, fresh apricot and subtle oak spice from 11 months ageing in lightly toasted French oak barrels (15% new). A vein of minerality runs through the mid-palate, finishing long and saline.. FOOD PAIRING. An elegant match for roast poultry, creamy chicken dishes, seared scallops, or grilled white fish. Also excellent with mushroom risotto or hard cheeses like aged Comté.. FRIARWOOD SAYS.
