Pierre Ponnelle Gevrey-Chambertin 2021

If you’re after some of the world’s most prestigious red wines, look to Burgundy's Côtes de Nuits. Here in the sub-region of Gevrey-Chambertin, producer Pierre Ponnelle crafts classic wines while embracing the advances of the future. Born and bred in the heart of Burgundy, winemaker Marinette Garnier has worked with illustrious local names such as Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils. Her deft touch, coupled with the excellent soils – including marl and red silt washed down from the plateau – creates beautiful wines. The grapes for this bottling are harvested by hand, and the wine is matured in French oak for a little over a year. Expect intensely fruity aromas of cherry and damson, plus fine, velvety tannins. Pair it with roast lamb, beef casserole or hard cheeses.
