Product Description
Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. Located in the wine region of Victoria, Australia, Giant Steps Winery is widely recognized as one of Australia's premier producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The company, considered one of the most progressive in the country, is now led by Phil Sexton (who founded it in 1998) and winemaker Steve Flamsteed who joined the winery in 2003. Giant's Steps wines are widely appreciated for their expressive personality. The Chardonnay grapes come from the Sexton vineyard and are harvested manually and pressed in whole clusters. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in vats with a capacity of 500 liters. To preserve the lively freshness of the grapes, the wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation. The wine was finally aged for 10 months on the lees in new and used French oak. The Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay is a light and bright golden-colored wine. The nose reveals a lively aromatic profile with ripe stone fruit, lime, and lemon peel and interesting mineral and saline notes. In the mouth, it is light and vibrant, with a medium body and well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and recalls intense mineral notes. It is the perfect wine for an aperitif but goes very well with rich salads with spicy sauces, vegetarian dishes, quiche, and poultry meat.
