Product Description

Discover all the wines from Chateau Figeac. ABOUT THE WINE. A Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘A’ estate as of the 2022 classification (then classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘B’), Château Figeac is one of the most historic and iconic producers in Saint-Émilion. With a distinctive terroir of gravelly soils on the western edge of the appellation, Figeac produces a uniquely Cabernet-dominant blend for the Right Bank – typically composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot in nearly equal parts. The 2009 vintage, a warm and generous year, yielded wines of depth, ripeness and remarkable charm.. TASTING NOTES. Deep ruby with garnet hues. The nose is rich and expressive, showing ripe blackcurrant, dark cherry, graphite, cedar, and sweet tobacco. On the palate, the wine is powerful yet poised, with silky tannins and layers of blackberry, cocoa, and exotic spice. A fresh mineral core lifts the wine, leading to a long, savoury finish. Approaching its plateau but with years of life ahead.. FOOD PAIRING. Perfect with roast lamb, duck breast with a red wine reduction, or aged Comté cheese. Decant for at least an hour for full expression.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. Figeac 2009 captures everything collectors love about mature Right Bank Bordeaux – structure, elegance, and aromatic complexity. A standout from a superb vintage.
