Founded in Vilafranca del Penedès in 1870, DO Penedès' family history as wine producers dates as far back as the 16th century. Over five generations they have preserved their identity as a family winery and their wines have become highly respected the world over. Today they have vines and wineries in the Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat and Costers del Segre, where they focus on making small batches of wine from outstanding vineyards and historic estates and on recovering ancestral grape varieties to adapt to climate change. They are also members of Primum Familiae Vini, an association of twelve of the finest wine-producing families in Europe. Mas La Plana is the result of the vision and determination of Miguel A. Torres. This exceptional wine burst onto the international scene in 1979, with its first vintage from 1970, by beating the world’s greatest Cabernets in the Gault & Millau Wine Olympics held in Paris. It is bold and spicy with herbal minty aromas and blackcurrant fruit flavours.
