Edmond de Rothschild Rimapere Plot 101 Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The famous and prestigious Rothschild family has a long winemaking tradition dating back to 1868 when James de Rothschild purchased Château Lafite. About a century later, the family's holdings expanded with the purchase of Château Clarke and Château Malmaison by Baron Edmond de Rothschild, and subsequently the founding of the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild which now includes properties in South Africa, Argentina, and New Zealand. Rimapere Plot 101 is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes from vineyards located on New Zealand's Rimapere estate in the Marlborough wine region of the South Island. The vines planted on stony soil are approximately 20 years old. The grapes are pressed in whole bunches and the fermentation takes place partly in wood and partly in steel. The wine has a straw yellow color with greenish hues. Its flavor profile is intense and fresh, as you would expect from a typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The nose reveals aromas of lime, lemon, grapefruit, and white flowers with some light hints of yeast. On the palate, it is fresh and crisp, citrusy and thirst-quenching. The finish is long and refreshing. It makes a great summer aperitif, but it is also excellent with seafood, asparagus risotto, and mixed salads.
