Champagne Pierre Moncuit Delos Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut

This is the Moncuit family’s flagship Blanc de Blancs Champagne, made entirely of Chardonnay harvested from Grand Cru vineyards in the commune of Mesnil-sur-Oger. It is an intense, lively wine, bursting with fine perlage and notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, marzipan, green apple skin, and brioche. The Moncuit family’s story begins at the end of the 19th century when grape grower Alex Moncuit acquired a few hectares of land in the Mesnil-sur-Oger region, where the winery is still located today. The estate consists of 15 hectares in Mesnil and 5 in Sézanne, all watched over by a fourth generation of Moncuit winemakers, upholding the staunch traditions of Champagne. Delos starts off with some crisp flavours on the palate, expanding into a smooth, mousse-like mouthfeel. There are notes of almond, butter, and fresh pastry, mingling with tarter flavours of freshly squeezed lemon, orchard fruits, and grapefruit rind. Like all of Moncuit’s wines, Delos was fermented in stainless steel tanks, to obtain the purest possible expression of the terroir. You can also discover underlying hints of chalky minerality, particularly on the finish. It is a dry, focused wine, ideal for serving as an appetiser, or alongside seafood, soft cheese, or spicy food.
