Located in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy, since 1946, Domaine Pierre Guillemot has been a renowned family-run winery for eight generations. The estate, which began converting to organic farming in 2020, extends across approximately 10 hectares of vineyards spread across the Savigny-lès-Beaune and Corton appellations, planted primarily with Pinot Noir. The estate also produces white wines based on Chardonnay and Aligoté. Harvests are done manually, and the winemaking process follows traditional techniques with minimal intervention to allow the grape varieties and their terroir of origin to fully express themselves. Made with Pinot Noir grapes, sourced from vines that are over 50 years old, the Savigny les Beaune Les Grands Picotins is an elegant and complex red, capable of aging well and evolving for over a decade. The nose reveals a fruity aromatic profile with notes of ripe strawberry and cranberry, over a herbaceous and forest floor background. On the palate, it is structured and medium-bodied with bright acidity and a pleasant fruit concentration. It has velvety tannins and a soft mouthfeel. The long finish reveals tertiary aromas of tobacco and wood. Try it with a steak sandwich or a succulent burger.
