The Pomegranate 'Provence' is a self-fertile tree that brings both beauty and flavour to your garden. Its glossy foliage and bright orange flowers bloom throughout the summer, eventually leading to brown, leathery-skinned fruits that ripen in milder autumns, ready for picking in October and November. Indulge in the sweet-sharp flavour of the fleshy fruits, perfect in both sweet and savoury dishes, or pressed for their fragrant juice.This multi-stemmed tree can reach a height of 3m and spread of 1.5m. Despite its Mediterranean origins, 'Provence' is surprisingly hardy and can withstand temperatures as low as -15C (5F) in a sheltered spot within the UK. It can also be grown in a large container, allowing you to move it indoors or to a more protected location during the colder winter months.For optimal growth, plant in a sunny, sheltered location in full sun. Water thoroughly during dry spells, particularly when the tree is fruiting. Before planting, enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or compost, and apply a mulch in the spring.
