Christian Dell, a trained silversmith, teacher of industrial design and master craftsman at the Weimar Bauhaus from 1922 to 1925, created the legendary series of lights in the 1930s. Today, it is manufactured by FRITZ HANSEN, the Danish lighting company founded in 1872 by carpenter Fritz Hansen after he obtained a trading licence for Copenhagen, and which has been synonymous with exquisite design ever since.
