Ingredients FAQs What is Warticon? Warticon is a prescription-only topical medicine available in the UK and Ireland. It's used to treat anogenital wart infections caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warticon contains the antiviral plant extract podophyllotoxin and comes in cream or solution form. How does Warticon treat genital warts? Warticon's active ingredient, podophyllotoxin, works by preventing wart cells from dividing and spreading. By directly applying Warticon to the wart surface, it inhibits cell growth and eventually causes the wart cells to die, allowing new tissue to grow in their place. How long does it take for Warticon to work? For most people, Warticon treatment involves applying the cream twice daily for 3 consecutive days, followed by 4 days of no treatment. If any warts remain after 7 days, the treatment cycle can be repeated for up to 4 weeks. Visible results are typically seen within a few weeks of starting treatment. How effective is Warticon? Warticon is considered a safe and effective treatment for genital warts when used as directed. Following the treatment regimen correctly can lead to visible improvements within a matter of weeks. What are anogenital warts? Anogenital warts are non-harmful growths caused by HPV that appear on the genital, anal, or perineal regions. They can be transmitted sexually or through other forms of skin-to-skin contact. These warts can be external or internal and may cause symptoms such as inflammation, bleeding, or discomfort during sexual activity. Diagnosis and treatment of anogenital warts should be carried out by a qualified healthcare professional. If you suspect you have genital warts, seek medical advice for proper evaluation and management.FAQs
