With a 32mm entrance hole, this nest box is ideal for Great Tits, Pied Flycatchers, Tree Sparrows and House Sparrows, all species that readily make themselves at home in well-sited garden boxes. This wooden nest box stands out for all the right reasons. Its beautifully flamed surface and contrasting black roof give it a characterful, contemporary look, while the timber itself has been thermally modified for extra durability. By heating the wood to over 180°C in an oxygen-reduced environment, we create a subtle chemical change that strengthens the structure and helps it resist the elements. The process gently carbonises the surface, giving every box its own unique pattern and finish, no two are exactly alike. A metal entrance plate adds an extra layer of protection, helping to deter predators and keep nesting birds safe. Across the UK, natural nesting holes in old trees and buildings are becoming harder to find.
