The Barossa Valley is one of Australia's oldest and most premium wine regions. It is divided into two subregions; Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, which both produce remarkably different wine styles. The Barossa Valley is warm and dry with relatively low rainfall in the growing season. The long hours of sunshine promote promote ripeness making it ideal for fuller bodied red wines. The low fertility soils and low rainfall encourage concentrated aromas and flavours. The Barossa Valley is well known for shiraz, grenache, mataro and semillon as they are very well suited to the conditions of the region. This rich and supple medium-bodied palate with flavours of raspberry and baked plum perfectly complement lamb stew or ragu.
