Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret'

The leaves of this variety of Alocasia appear metallic in varying hues of ruby red, alluding to its name. Native to Borneo.. The 'secret': when backlit or in sunshine, this species appears to glow bright red.. Leaves are waxy, thick and glossy.. Alocasia Cuprea are also called Mirror Plants due to their iridescent, luminous leaves.. Growth pattern: Tuberous & bushes outwards. Water: Little and often. Keep moist but not waterlogged.. Ideal Position: South, east or north facing. Light: Medium to bright, indirect or filtered light.. Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
