Product Description
The 'Earliblue' Blueberry offers a delightful harvest of large, light blue, sweetly flavoured berries from early July. This self-fertile variety bears fruit in medium-sized clusters and, when planted alongside later-fruiting types, extends the blueberry season for several weeks. Beyond its productive capacity, this robust blueberry bush also serves as an ornamental shrub, gracing patios and acidic borders alike. In spring, expect a profusion of sweetly scented, creamy-white flowers, followed by a display of fiery crimson foliage in autumn.Blueberries are renowned for their health benefits and culinary versatility, perfect for pies, muffins, and jams. Supplied as a sturdy, 3-litre potted Vaccinium plant, it will begin fruiting within a year of planting. For optimal growth, plant in well-drained, acidic soil in a sunny or semi-shaded location. In areas lacking naturally acidic soil, cultivate in patio containers using ericaceous compost mixed with John Innes No. 3. Rainwater is preferable for watering, as tap water's lime content can reduce soil acidity over time.Expect fruit production to commence in the third year. Protect developing berries from birds with netting. From the third year onwards, prune the oldest stems each autumn to encourage new growth and maintain a healthy plant structure.Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade.Height: Up to 1.8m when fully established.Spread: Up to 1.8m when fully established.Supplied as 1 x Blueberry ‘Earliblue’ (Vaccinium) plant in a 3 Litre Pot.Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
