Before planting, enrich the soil with well-rotted manure or garden compost. When planting lilies in containers, opt for a loam-based compost. Plant lily bulbs at a depth approximately three times their height, spaced 15cm (6") apart, in a sheltered, sunny location.Throughout the growing season, ensure regular feeding and watering, maintaining consistent moisture. When cutting oriental lily flowers for indoor displays, leave a third of the stem intact to nourish the bulb. Over winter, reduce watering and move containers to a cool, frost-free environment. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost.
