These make excellent cut flowers. Plant in rich, fertile, well-drained soil, in a sunny position. When planting in patio containers, use a soil-based compost, such as John Innes No.3. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. Once the first frost blackens the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect outdoor plants from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container-grown plants can be moved to a frost-free position over winter. Divide clumps in spring when they become overcrowded. Specifications: Position: full sun or partial shade.
