With a name like GOLDEN ORCHESTRA and a title like Woody Woodpecker, one might expect a cacophony of music styles and sounds coming together in a bizarre symphony. And that's exactly what you get with this album. From the opening track, "Bird Brained Boogie," you are thrust into a world of whimsical melodies and quirky rhythms that feel like they were plucked straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon. The brass section blares like a cartoon character running into a wall, while the strings pluck away like a mischievous woodpecker tapping on a tree. Tracks like "Silly Symphony Swing" and "Cuckoo Clock Cha-Cha" are where the album truly shines, with their infectious grooves and playful instrumentation. It's impossible not to tap your foot or bob your head along to these catchy tunes. However, the album does suffer from a lack of cohesion at times. Certain tracks feel like they were thrown in just for the sake of being weird, rather than adding to the overall listening experience. But then again, maybe that's the point of GOLDEN ORCHESTRA - to be as unpredictable and zany as possible.
