Born & educated in the Netherlands, Michelle Lucking has always had a close, emotional affinity to water. She was inspired at an early age by the beauty of light reflections on the canal that ran alongside her house. This developed into a deep love of the ocean in her adult years. Today Michelle lives by the coast in North Somerset, England, and spends many hours photographing the changeable & powerful nature of the sea & sky in order to create unique compositions for her paintings. Through the use of Unison Colour soft pastels she ultimately strives to paint not only an image, but also to capture the sense of emotion & wonder evoked by the ocean.
