Product Description
The final match of the 1988/89 season was a hotly contested clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at Anfield on May 26, 1989. Going into the match Liverpool were top of the table, three points ahead with George Graham's Arsenal needing to beat Liverpool by two clear goals to take the title back to Highbury, a task most people thought was beyond them. Graham changed tactics for this meeting with a 5-4-1 formation. With an Arsenal side captained by Tony Adams, they defied the odds, taking the lead through Alan Smith's header before Michael Thomas wrote his name in club folklore with a famous stoppage-time strike. Football just doesn't get more dramatic than it did on that iconic Spring evening at Anfield. After an 18 year wait, Arsenal were back at the top of English football. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of this historic achievement, we have created a limited-edition badge set of all the players involved and presented in the 5-4-1 formation George Graham famously adopted. A truly special gift for any Arsenal fan. 14 individual badges representing the starting eleven, substitutes on the evening and George Graham including name and squad number One badge showing the front of the away shirt from the 88/89 season High quality hardback presentation box with a hidden magnetic clasp closure and gold script design Badges rest upon a soft felt backing Limited Edition of 5000 with each box individually numbered Box dimensions 175mm x 260mm x 35mm Badge dimensions 20mm x 30mm Product code: N03066
