The ENVE SES 4.5 AR Tubular Disc rim is ready to be built into an uncompromising aero wheelset that's perfect if you're seeking more speed, comfort, and traction over old, broken or poor road surfaces and even the occasional gravel track. Designed as the ultimate race wheel for Team Dimension Data's Spring Classics campaign, the SES 4.5 AR brings aerodynamics to all-road performance, giving pro riders the superior grip, rolling resistance and comfort of 30mm tyres over cobbled sections and an aero boost between them. As with the rest of the SES range, the 4.5 AR derives its name from its rim depths –49mm front, 55mm rear – each with patented dissimilar SES rim geometries. With the SES 4.5 AR, the introduction of road-disc frames with increased tyre clearance has allowed ENVE to take an unconventional approach to wheel design and create front and rear rim shapes that better manage airflow around wider tyres, significantly reducing flow separation. In addition to dissimilar geometries, the SES 4.5 AR Disc features disc brake specific construction. ENVE has removed the brake track and its heat management material entirely to save weight, improve strength and create an unprecedented ride quality. The SES 4.5 AR Disc is available as a tubeless clincher and tubular model rim. The tubeless version utilises ENVE's hookless bead design – technology created for the brand's M Series MTB wheels that improves aerodynamic performance by aiding airflow from tyre to rim. This design also provides real-world gains in rolling resistance, comfort, traction and a reduced chance of flats. Industry leaders in carbon fibre, every ENVE rim is handmade from raw uni-directional carbon at ENVE's headquarters in Utah, USA. The bespoke construction process utilises rim-specific carbon laminates, moulded spoke holes, removable bladders, and a gorgeous paint-free finish to reduce weight while maintaining strength, stiffness and allowing the beautiful handmade quality to shine through.
