It can be worn over the top of a jacket as an "over jacket". As with all Tech-Air systems, this systems provides a protective coverage to the riders chest and back for upper body protection. The chassis is constructed with a water resistant treatment for effective all-weather performance.This Tech-air system does not require any external connections or sensors on the motorcycle t be operated, this system is a fully autonomous active airbag system. It incorporates 6 integrated sensors to provide the best crash monitoring performance in a variety of different riding situations. These sensors come in the form of 3 accelerometers, 3 gyroscopes or 1 triaxial gyroscope and 1 triaxial accelerometer. This system is activated automatically via the magnetic zip closure. The ECU and electronics that help to use this system are all located in a waterproof housing for a proven wet weather performance.The Tech-Air 3 comes in a lightweight packable design which means the system can be easily stored in a backpack or even under a motorcycle seat when it is not being used. It comes equipped with a diagonal zipper which is located across the chest to provide full chest coverage whilst also keeping the inner airbag concealed. As with the other Tech-Air systems, this airbag comes with an LED display on the front of the chest which indicates the airbags operational status. This airbag system comes with a magnetic button on the inside which helps to position the jacket across the chest whilst riding.The Tech-Air 3 system comes with strategically positioned stretch panels which are located on both sides of the abdomen to help with the expansion of the airbag in the event of a crash. This airbag vest also comes with an integrated back protector pocket which is on the back to help house any additional passive back protection.Tech-Air 3 incorporates Alpinestars Pro 2nd Generation compact Electronic Control Unit which is located in the upper back of the vest. This airbag also uses the same street algorithm that is used in the Tech-Air 5 to help provide active protection in any street riding scenarios and in a variety of riding conditions, even when the bike is stopped. This system can be easily upgraded thanks to the upgradeable system firmware that is accessible via the official Tech-Air App. The Tech-Air 3 system can be easily connected to the app via Bluetooth connectivity which can show the systems status, the battery status and the riding data.The Tech-Air 3 system uses an integrated, certified lithium ion battery which has a battery life of 40 hours and a recharge time of just 4 hours. The LED display also incorporates a haptic alert, this can tell the rider when the battery is going low by giving a small vibration. The argon gas canister provides the inflation gas for the airbags deployment and is housed in the ergonomic case on the right hand side of the lower back of the rider. The canister is easily removable as well as any electronic wiring and the airbag itself.This vest is washable.The ECU is CE certifiedThe argon inflator cartridge is CE certified to ISO26263, confirming compliance with the safety standard and certifying that the cartridges can be safely handled and serviced.According to European statutory law the CE mark is a conformity requirement for the marketing of this product.
