Humming across our gardens and countryside, hopping from flower to flower, bumblebees and bees collect nectar and pollen to help our plants and flowers survive. This process of moving pollen between flowers is essential for many plants to make fruit and produce more seeds. Did you know that they play a big part in human survival? Believe it or not, these little insects are largely responsible for regulating our food supply. It is estimated that one third of the food we consume each day relies on pollination mainly by bees and bumblebees. This shaped puzzle was commissioned by artist John Francis to help spread awareness and remind everyone what they can do to help protect the bees. Here are a few ideas of things you can do to help: - Plant nectar-bearing flowers - Plant fragrant, flowery top herbs in sunny locations - Mow your garden less, and allow flowers to grow - Support organic farmers and food producers - Raise awareness amongst children
