Product Description
SuperPro Engine Mount Inserts replace the rubber bushes in existing engine mounts with firmer polyurethane. This is more durable than rubber, stops the engine moving excessively under acceleration, enhances traction, and can give more positive gear-changes.Reduces power lossImproves tractionMore positive gear changesEngine mounts are designed to insulate the rest of the car from the normal vibrations of the engine. They need to strike a balance between not letting the engine move too much, and not transmitting unwanted levels of noise and vibration into the cabin. As with many things on the car, they are a compromise, probably leaning more towards comfort than performance. While this suits cars running stock power levels and/or being driven moderately, once you start increasing the torque on offer and/or driving the car harder, the rubber used can prove to be too soft allowing excessive movement. The engine rocking too much under load is a problem because it puts extra load on the exhaust system. This flexing also means the full torque from the engine isn't being transmitted to the wheels. It also affects handling as drive-line is connected to the wheels.By replacing the original parts with firmer polyurethane these issues can be avoided. Mounting into the original engine mount assembly in place of the rubber originals, these firm everything up.The rubber used in the original engine mounts will become soft and brittle with age, leading to all the same problems. This is another advantage of polyurethane. It simply doesn't wear out in the same way. This means that these are ideal either for replacing worn originals or as a bit of preventative maintenance on an older car.Depending on the application, three compounds may be available:70K SHORE is the softest compound and is recommended for diesel engines. It can be used on petrol and will still be firmer than the original parts, but the firmness will not be the same as the firmer compounds.80K SHORE is a medium firmness compound recommended for sports/street use on most petrol-engined cars. It will offer both an impressive degree of handling enhancement, and a fair degree of insulation from NVH.90K SHORE is recommended for track-use. It offers the greatest degree of improvement in firmness, but will transmit significantly more vibration into the cabin of the car.
