Product Description

Equip 200 Amp Petrol Engine Booster Cable 2.5m Equip Jump Leads are designed for safety and efficiency with a full insulation feature and a 2.5-metre cable length, making them ideal for petrol engines up to 2500cc. Fully insulated clips and cable 2.5 metres in length 200 amp suitable for vehicles up to 2500cc Not suitable for diesel engines Safety Tips and Usage Instructions: Consult Your Vehicle Handbook: Always review your vehicle's manual before using jump leads. Some manuals provide model-specific instructions which should be followed instead of the general steps outlined here.Preparation: Ensure both vehicles are the same voltage and parked safely with handbrakes engaged and ignitions off. Keep the vehicles from touching to prevent sparks or potential explosions. Connecting the Leads: Attach the red lead to the positive (+) terminal of the donor vehicle’s battery and then to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery. Connect the black lead to the negative (-) terminal of the donor battery. Secure the other end of the black lead to a solid earthing point on the engine or chassis of the vehicle with the dead battery, avoiding proximity to the battery and fuel system. Starting Procedure: Wait three minutes for the voltages to equalise before starting either engine.Start the donor vehicle and let it run for one minute. While it’s running, start the vehicle with the dead battery and keep both engines at a fast idle for 10 minutes. Avoid removing the jump leads while the engines are running to prevent damage to vehicle electronics. If the leads become hot, turn off both engines and let the leads cool before proceeding.Disconnecting the Leads: Turn off both vehicles and remove the jump leads in the reverse order of connection. Ensure the clamps do not touch each other or any part of the vehicle’s bodywork. Final Check: Attempt to start the vehicle with the previously dead battery using its own power. If it doesn’t start, there may be a more significant issue with the charging or ignition system that requires professional inspection. Note: For vehicles with advanced electronics such as satellite navigation, DVD players, or security-coded radios, consult a professional before jump-starting. Low battery voltage can damage sensitive equipment or require re-entry of security codes. Always adhere to any jump-starting instructions in your vehicle’s handbook to avoid potential damage or personal injury.
