This design makes them resistant to corrosion and able to withstand high heat (250 deg C) and load conditions. These properties make the Cometic MLS head gaskets ideal for use on high performance engines with cast iron or aluminium heads.Some applications have an MLX gasket option. These are based on the MLS gaskets but have an integrated 'stopper' layer which creates a sealing ring around the combustion chamber. This improves clamp loads without excessive bore distortion.
