Friendly and knowledgeable staff who advised on bottles to purchase. We were just passing through on our way up north but seemed like a very good place to buy wine, especially for special occasions. One bottle was a gift and we don’t know how good it was. The other bottle, a Cremant de Bourgogne we helped drink and was very tasty.
First visit to these impressive premises and well hosted by Hugh with a kind and informative tour of the building, which offers far more than anticipated. Early days with the new cafe venture, which comfortably seats 12, providing hot and cold drinks (& fine wines from a very impressive range of course!) and a limited selection of pasteries but given the expertise of the accomplished co-proprietor chef the options are likely to expand to homemade cakes and more. A very professional set up which impressed!
Great fun and informative evening. Martin from Pol was a wonderful orator and the champagne was delicious. Paired beautifully with a charcuterie and cheese board, and well served and supported by the team at Bon Coeur.
We visited the shop whilst on holiday. Plenty of wines around £10-£15, lots more if you have deeper pockets! There is a 20% discount when buying 6 bottles or more. Worth a visit if you enjoy wine.
Good selection of wines but not geared towards the private customer in my opinion. I placed 5 orders with Bon Coeur over two months. I think their main clientele is the pub and restaurant sector as they never gave delivery forecasts. A guy in a van would just turn up. The first two orders were for collection. I got confirmation saying they had been shipped. I had to query this and was told that's how their system works. So change your system then! I had three orders delivered. On the last occasion I asked for a specific delivery time and was told Tuesday around 2.00pm. I then get a call on Monday at 11.00am from the delivery driver who is at my door. I am away from home. On the two other occasions the driver couldn't find my property or turned up an hour early. As I say, this is all well and good if delivering to a business but not to a private individual. I'm not staying at home 24/7 on the offchance that some wine may turn up. So as I say, a nice collection of wines but just too much hassle to deal with. I am now using a different company who use regular couriers who give a one hour delivery slot.
