Fabrication Works Manager
Catalyst Engineering have a requirement for an experienced Fabrication Works Manager. This role will require hands-on management of a small workshop team (currently 5 operatives and 1 administrator), as well as customer relationship management, estimating, process improvement, and IT system implementation. The successful candidate will lead the integration of ECS's accounting and project management systems into Catalyst Engineering and will be pivotal in driving efficiency, profitability, and long-term growth Key Responsibilities Day-to-day management of the fabrication workshop, ensuring efficient delivery of projects to time, budget, and quality. Manage production schedules, allocate resources, and oversee quality control. Line management of the fabrication team and administrator, including motivation, performance, training, and development. Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and new clients, building strong relationships and generating repeat business. Advise and participate in estimating and quoting for new works, working closely with ECS colleagues where appropriate. Full ownership of P&L management. Strategic planning and business development. Work closely with ECS Finance to manage monthly reporting, invoicing, and financial controls. Any other duties assigned in line with the scope and seniority of the role Skills & Qualifications Steel fabrication knowledge essential, with practical understanding of fabrication processes and standards. Previous supervisory or management experience in a workshop/engineering environment. Estimating experience, including preparation of quotations and commercial offers. Strong customer relationship management skills, with a professional and proactive approach. Experience in implementing new IT or accounting systems into small businesses, and the ability to train and motivate others to adopt them. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop small teams. Self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive business improvements. Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of costs, margins, and financial controls Ability to process information accurately, quickly and logically.
