The staff here are absolutely brilliant. They couldn't have been more helpful when we messed up our order. Nothing was too much trouble. Best DIY store in Teesside
I have friends who recommended Wickes KItchen, they obviously had a better luck. I wanted a practical fully functional kitchen. I learnt too late, that the "designer" didn't know his products, nor did he seem to understand my requirements. I was on a tight buget, but what Wickes didn't say was the fitters needed to be paid seperaterly. Recently I had flooring fitted, I was told up front that I paid for the materials and recommended fitters seperately. The only saving grace in this whole encounter, was the fitters Alan and Jason, who were FANTASTIC. They were experience enough to overcome the many problems and conscientious enough to recognise that I didn't have a bottomless purse. I would happily give them ten stars and recommend them to anyone I paid for the kitchen and waited for it to be delivered: 1) The measurements were wrong, so I had to compromise on the look. 2) The radiator had to be changed to fit the kitchen units, thus incurring more cost, I filled in the gap on one side with a small spice unit, added cost. 3) I couldn't have the Gas hob, as the black splash, would burn close to high heat. I bought an Induction hob from Currys, thus incurring more cost to have it fitted. Thankfully I had capacity on my Electrical Meter box, to add the Induction Hob. I am now learning to use it, as I have always used Gas. 4) I had to pay for the installation of new sockets, which I thought were included in the plan. 5) The work-top can't have anything HOT placed on it and STAINS. I specifically asked the "designer" for the opposite. As you can see from the added pictures the worktop is alraedy pealing and damages easily.. DON'T BUY THIS WORKTOP. 6) After four promises that the "HIppo Bag" would be removed it is still in my garden nearly to two weeks after the completion of the job. Wickes seems to have no interest in their contractor's irresponsibel treatment of their customers. Their attitude is very much "it has nothing to do with us, so why are you bothering me?" The end result: I am £3,000 over my budget, I didnt get the kicthen I really wanted. A "Hippo Bag" in my back garden, which is dealaying another contractor. Hippo have only one lorry working in this area, it is "permanently broken down". I personally belive, they are over commmited, don't have the capcity to forefill their contract, so it is the "little" people who are penalised. Wickes refund me for the Gas Hob, minus all the so called "discounts" they had given me when I purchased the kitchen. The "designer" never showed any interest in the mistakes that were occurring and didn't respond to emails, text messages or phone calls. I am truly gratefull that I didnt arrange for them to refitted my bathrooms, as I orginally planned, but the waiting time was too long. Thank goodness for "Big Mercies" It is now May 2024, I have had to replace all the worktops and splash-backs as they were blown. Sadly the units are still falling apart, I fix them they break again. I see Wickes' advert on TV and want to shout "all lies" don't waste your money.
My favourite Wickes store, used it a lot, know the staff & they know me, service is top notch every time.
Was very hard to find a staff member to help me with my purchase and once found staff member had to find another was like a wild goose chase to find someone to help wouldn't go bk
This has affordable items without the massive stock of other DIY stores so you can easily find what you need. This time when I went there weren't any long queues so it merits a higher star rating than last time. There were lots of people looking around the model kitchens and it was staffed accordingly.
