I rent a property on Bondgate in Darlington through Magnum. Day I signed, I was told by multiple staff including Aaron F. that all bills were included, specifically electric and water. Months later, I came home to find the electric meter had been changed and a large bill left behind. The letter had Magnum’s name and my address, yet I’d never received a single notice or letter. When I tried to speak to Aaron, he refused the call. When I got through to the office, he denied ever saying bills were included despite my conversation and having media proving otherwise. Arron F then tried to call me back once he knew this and seeming to try and what looks like put me in a situation where they could blame deniability. He then blamed the landlord and previous staff. He offered to make amends and to do the work in house including water seeping into walls from roof that was falling in. A window that was a sheet of plastic screwed into the wooden frame. Every repair had to be chased. I believe they deliberately stalled once they realized I knew that I had evidence contradicting their accounts of what happened with the utilities. After I posted this review, Aaron suddenly wanted to talk , just like another reviewer said previous after similar issue with dodgy utilities. Then two men showed up for an electric check the first since I moved in. Days later, I received a Section 21 notice dated 22/12/25 , three days before Christmas. I’ve never missed rent. The electricity check days earlier was to serve my notice because i’d finally escalated because of what I have had to live in and the situation I have been put in. Since then, they’ve denied my month-in-hand, now claiming it was my deposit despite separate receipts and a copy taken by their own staff. That’s now “missing” from my file. It feels like a scam from start to finish. Thankfully, a third party in the housing field is now involved due to my health, and they’re encouraging me to take this further now. They believe this is clear retaliation and I agree. They also say could stop eviction or delay it but want to be as far away from Magnum. I’ve also seen and heard info of them interfering with certain support and help I use to receive and now further retaliation with the “disappearing of money” of my month in hand. You could not even make this up and so glad can prove the story fully now. People can believe I am a disgruntled tenant but I really do not need or want this. I am no longer willing to accept it either. Their business side may look polished, but the residential treatment is appalling. The professionals helping me are shocked by what they’ve seen and. I’ll continue watching for any further retaliation after I leave thats how far they are going. I will not be having that and will go down necessary paths if I believe this to be the case again. Magnum rang on the 9/01/26 to get my rent, when it’s not due to the 27th. I assume they are trying to get as much as they can before courts, while Im still struggling to find new property. Or they have the date and wanted to try their luck. It is time they explain themselves rather than trying to destroy me and evict me to protect themselves. The strangest part is Arron. F said the owner knew everything when it all came to light and was horrified. Not once has he come and shown themselves or their staff. They ignored me even after trying to blame me for their “mistake” and It was get rid of me as difficult, quickly and bountiful for them as possible. Me catching them out is the only thing that horrified them all. They all seem to think that this is a normal occurrence for a dodgy metre to be in any property but then even acknowledged beforehand by the letting agency. For me and now what I have seen from previous reviews this seems to be true. For response. You say you are open for communications knowing you had already served eviction. And Aarron. F clearly says if the utilities ring, say I just moved in and to contact him immediately. This the day I found out the water was fraudulent and luckily decided to protect myself.
Very disappointed with the service. I had already confirmed that I was available at 3:30, and we arrived at the correct time for the viewing. Their agent did not send any text or proper follow-up, and instead cancelled the viewing without giving me any chance to respond. This is completely unprofessional and a waste of our time. If the agent couldn’t reach me once, they should have tried again closer to the appointment time instead of cancelling. Poor communication and very frustrating experience.
my experience with magnum properties has been great, I feel they were the only agents who were wanting to help me especially erestina and aminah. they were both amazing and helped me throughout the full process. I am grateful for all the staff. I will be 100% recommending the agency. I've been looking for a long time and these are the only people who have been positive and helped me.
Very bad ppl working in this MP estate especially the person call Haroon I think ..not nice person always charge ppl extra money .if owner of this place understood definitely gonna kick him out . Absolutely its shame on him .
I’ve been renting through this agency for almost 2-3 months, and my experience has been incredibly frustrating Just 10 days after moving into my original room, I was suddenly asked to vacate it because fire safety inspectors deemed it unsafe. I had to pack and move into a much smaller room that very same evening in the same house, with no warning or proper arrangements made in advance. Since then, it’s been nearly two months, and I’m still stuck in that small room, paying the same full rent meant for the larger room. Despite repeated follow-ups, I’ve received no confirmed move-in date or timeline for when the necessary repairs will be completed. The agency has repeatedly told me that it’s up to the landlord’s maintenance team to handle the issue, and they’re still "following up" with no real updates. It feels like they’re dragging their feet. They haven’t provided any proper answers regarding the completion of the necessary works, leaving me in limbo without any resolution. What’s worse is that they are now asking me to allow viewings for the room I’m currently living in—even though I’ve had no clarity on when I’ll get my original room back. It feels completely unreasonable and disrespectful given the circumstances. If you're considering renting through this agency, please proceed with caution. My experience has shown a serious lack of communication, planning, and basic consideration for tenants. I was forced to move out of my room with no notice, placed in a much smaller space for months, and still charged full rent. It has felt like my concerns have been disregarded, and I’ve been treated more like an inconvenience than a paying tenant :( I’m still waiting to get my original room back—or at the very least, a fair rent reduction. This level of treatment and lack of accountability is simply not acceptable.
