We rented a house through Shefflets for 2 years and 3 months. They were always very good to deal with, professional and quick to respond to any issues or questions we might have had. Everyone we dealt with Shefflets were always very pleasant to deal with. We would recommend them very highly.

FOLLOWING SHEFFLETS RESPONSE I completely reject Shefflets’ version of events or “context.” Their response seriously misrepresents reality and the nature of communications that took place. It was independently confirmed via Reposit’s adjudication process that the majority of Shefflets’ claims were unfair or unsubstantiated, with their claim reduced by over half. In my view, this clearly shows their original claim was excessive and not in any way “fair.” Tenants be aware – in my opinion, Shefflets’ mention CCJs etc to apply undue pressure. Don’t be intimidated. Stand up to them and defend your rights. Shefflets did not “actively communicate” with me about repairs or cleanliness, as they claim. The opposite was true. I repeatedly had to chase, particularly regarding the broken windows mentioned in my review. The only “proactive” contacts from Shefflets during my tenancy were inspection visits and an email threatening action because a rent direct debit payment day fell on a Sunday and was therefore not received until the Monday (standard banking practice). Their statement accusing me of “aggressive and threatening language” is wholly false and disgustingly misleading. I’ve retained copies of all communications, including this response below. My experience appears to be far from unique. Many other reviews describe similar issues with their conduct and approach to tenants. Original: My experience with Shefflets has been beyond disappointing. I honestly wouldn’t recommend them to anyone and I would strongly warn other potential tenants to read the following before renting through them. From the point it was my misfortune to pick up the keys and enter the property there were problems. To read their check-in document, you would think that the entire apartment was sparkling new, without a speck of dust, with every single area and item listed as “Good condition and professionally cleaned”, quite literally without exception. The truth was a heavily stained toilet, severely damaged and filthy dirty fridge, clumps of animal hair, left refuse, marks on the walls, stained furnishings and two broken windows that would not remain in the closed position. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. All of these points were reported to Shefflets using their own document, and although they received this at the beginning of the tenancy, no action was taken for any of the above, including the broken windows. After 3 months, the windows were eventually repaired – during this period, they even asked me to get in touch with their repair company because they simply could not be bothered. Then, after just 10 months, they attempted to raise the rent, claiming they were keeping in line with the market, even though there were other identical apartments in the same building, and in better condition, but with lower monthly rents (even before the rent rise). At this point, I submitted my notice to leave, but Shefflets clearly saw this as an opportunity to recoup any potential lost income between me moving out and any unfortunate new tenant moving in. They therefore tried to charge for various spurious claims, even though the overall apartment was left in a far far better condition than it was when I moved in. I have since sent a letter of complaint to Shefflets. Suffice to say they have not replied. They’re very good during the sales process, but as soon as you move in then they act like a completely different company. I would never ever consider renting a property through them again and I would caution anyone else from renting through Shefflets. If you do rent with them, photograph absolutely everything when you move in – literally everything, as the photos they supply you at check-in will only make up approximately one third of the photos they then try to use against you when you move out, which can make it difficult to prove your point as the claim they're making against you will not have the same photographic evidence at check-in – which is clearly their aim.

Sheffllets managed my rental property for over 10 years in a totally professional friendly manner. Attentive to maintenance issues, all of which were quickly resolved. Swift to find good tenants. They also acted on the sale of the property which encountered many problems along the way but they overcame them all for which I am grateful. I have no hesitation in recommending them both for management and sales.

After 9 years of being a tenant, and having already received my full deposit back from the landlord, Shefflets are retrospectively sending me invoices for things i’ve not agreed to, like an oven clean, 11 days after i’ve moved out. Laughable really.
