Best vets we've ever been to! Very happy with my choice. My cat was very happy too which is unheard of in a vets. He was treated very gently and not put under pressure. It was our first time in the vets having relocated and the vet Richard had read Winston notes ahead of the appointment, noticed an anomaly in the prescriptions from our old vets and took measures to mitigate the differences in prescription. We were seen on time and everyone was lovely. From the initial phone call enquiry to payment. Thank you team.

Where do I start? I took my boy to the vets due to reduced appetite, struggling to open bowels and discharge from rear. We saw Josie the vet who completed bloods and advised Ripon vets would be in touch with results. Arrived at ripon to be seen by Josie again the next day for xrays and ultrasound. On arrival back told my boy was very ill, prostate cancer and fly strike. We were told nothing we can do, we were devastated. When asked we were told days to live. There was pressure immediately to make the ultimate decision we never want to make. We refused. We asked for laxitives to help him go, hormone therapy to try reduce prostate. Told it wasn't due to hormones and that laxitive was very short term again told there's no treatment they would offer. We made it clear we were taking him home and do everything for our boy. Within 48 hrs flystrike sorted. Plain diet of chicken and tuna with fibre powder and vitamins. Slowly over the weeks bowels improved and now normal movements. Our boy is playful happy and enjoying life. I googled everything for advice, information and guidance. Something I should of got from the vets. Now I feel angry, pressure put on us to make a decision after 30 seconds of been told diagnosis, the moment your heart is breaking. Thank God we refused. While Josie was very text book with information we feel she lacks the experience to look at it not from a text book but step outside the box and look at each case individually. The power of the love of a dog and family. How many people have gone with the pressure to end the life of their pet during a time you cant think straight and missed that precious time with there beloved pet. No discussion of pain management or possibilities. Were now 2 months later and my boy is thriving. Is his prostate reducing, is he going to live another 6 months. Is it cancer or hormone based, Who knows as no conclusive test done, all I do know is we were nearly robbed of this time and archie of his life. The compassion just isn't there, it's very much business and I'm offended by that. These are our babies, our beloved pets. It's all about the profit, nothing we can do now pay your bill before you go. When did vets become so cold and profit based. My advice is if your going to deliver that kind of news, give it with compassion and possibilities of potential treatment even if its to allow families to come to terms; not just the pressure around euthanasia. Give people the chance to think rationally with time because people will make a rash decision when there in despair. Be compassionate around payments, don't just put your hand out and make it clear pay before you go when you've just delivered devastating news. Go back to old school, compassion, caring, leave the text book and look at each case individually and not book based. You very nearly robbed us of our precious boy too soon!

I have a red lab with elbow dysplacia that needed his annual vaccines. Laura was standing in whilst Richard was on holiday and I have to say she was amazing! Lab tends to get a bit nervous and she made friends, sat the floor with him and her help and knowledge was invaluable! A fantastic vet. Thank you Laura 😊

Another 5 star visit. Both cats had their annual inoculations which also came with a full health check. This practice is highly recommended in Northallerton.

My cat Teddy, went in for a dental procedure this morning. I was put at easy and reassured and talk to about the whole procedure. The nurse explained everything and took good care of teddy! I left knowing he was in the best hands and was happy to collect him later and know that everything went okay, and he was well looked after. I have only recently joined Bishopton vets. But would 100% recommend.
