Staithes Gallery
About
Description
Staithes is a picturesque village on the North Yorkshire coast. Once an important fishing port, it has also always been a magnet for artists. Young British impressionists, including the young Laura Knight, flocked here in the early 20th century to form the Staithes Group. in the 1950s Lilian Colbourn made it her home. Later Eric Taylor, Fred Williams and Len Tabner were all inspired by the huddled cottages, lofty cliffs and moody seas and skies of Staithes.
Today Staithes continues to inspire talented artists and Staithes Gallery provides a beautiful showcase right in the heart of the old village for the immense wealth and variety of their work. An absolute must for lovers of art and of the region's landscapes and coastal views.
