West Burton is one of the most beautiful and peaceful villages in the whole of the Yorkshire dales, with its traditional stone built cottages bordering the vast village green where children can safely play on the swings whilst the adults enjoy a relaxing drink and take in the fantastic views.

The village has its very own hidden waterfalls which are surely one of the most popular subjects for photographers coming to wensleydale and in the summer provide the most perfect natural swimming pool for locals and holidaymakers alike.

The Fox & Hounds is a family run pub welcoming well behaved children and pets. We serve morning coffee and afternoon teas as well as lunches and evening meals from our extensive bar menu.

To the locals we are essentially their village pub at the centre of the community and where they come to relax after a hard day’s work. We host men’s and ladies darts team’s, a dominoes team, and in the summer the traditional game of quoits is played out in from of the pub on the green.

We are included in the AA Pub Guide, The Hidden Inns of Yorkshire and the very popular Inn Way due to us being situated on that vary route, as well as many others. We Stock an excellent Selection of hand pulled Ales from the likes of Black Sheep, Theakstons and Copper Dragon which are always appreciated by visitors to the village.

The Food we serve is intended to complement our overall identity of a dales village pub. We therefore put great emphasis on good wholesome dishes with decent portions using fresh ingredients. There are traditional pub favourites such as steak & kidney pie, chicken curry and lasagne as well as a full range of steaks and gammons cut by our local butcher from exceptional quality local meats. All our food is homemade and can be eaten in the bar or in the dining room where residents automatically have a table reserved for them each night. Unfortunately we do not allow dogs in the dining room but they are very welcome in the bar.

The dales are a hive of things to do and places to visit. We are very close to Bolton castle, the black sheep brewery, wensleydale creamery and the many market towns that make up north Yorkshire, whist west burton has its well-known cat pottery and butchers shop were the sausages are a great souvenir to take home it also has the newly opened craft shop called Fabric of the Field and the Old Smithy antique shop, both seen on TV numerous times on shows such as “The Dales” and “Antiques Roadtrip”
