Ripon Cathedral took us completely by surprise — it is absolutely stunning. The sense of history and beauty inside is really something special. What made the visit even more memorable were two wonderful gentlemen who were so warm, welcoming and generous with their knowledge and stories. Their love for the place really shone through. Whether you are someone who is religious or not, you can’t help but be moved by the beauty and atmosphere here. Even took the time to light a candal for a loved one too.

Simply stunning! Absolutely worth a visit if you’re nearby. Photos speak for themselves, I hope. There were a few kind folks around who were happy to help or answer questions. You can leave a voluntary donation of cash or via a contactless point. There was certainly no pressure to do so, but a modest fiver felt appropriate when it costs so much to heat and upkeep places like this.

We loved our visit to Ripon Cathedral! We were met by a warm welcome and had the pleasure of learning about this wonderful cathedral from people who obviously love it. It may be small but it still packs a mighty punch! Great architecture backed by a special spiritual glow. Well worth taking the time to remember why we celebrate Christmas in such a calm and charming building.

Amazing cathedral with “Alice in Wonderland” connections. Fantastic woodwork. Tombs with statutes. Cathedral is built on top of stone a church dating to 672 AD. They have stairs down so you can see it.
