About Anita Bowerman

The Mayor of Harrogate has just unveiled Anita’s newest paper cut “A Cycle Tour of Yorkshire, Stage 1”. It took Anita 5 months to create this 75 x 65 cm paper cut in celebration of Le Tour de France coming to Yorkshire. It features all the famous landmarks and buildings and contrasting scenery around Yorkshire, telling a story through minute illustrative detail. Featured on it are tiny rabbits, farm animals, other wild animals, birds and people generally enjoying themselves. Historical details are also included. Limited Edition Giclee Prints are available for £95 for A3, £175 for original size version. Laser cut of the full size image is also available. The original is on display at The Dove Tree Art Studio. Born in Yorkshire, Anita is well known for her brightly coloured watercolour, acrylic and mixed media paintings and paper cuts inspired by a variety of subjects including nature, local and national landscapes and architecture. Anita was encouraged to go professional 20 years ago, following a successful career as a retail Buyer working for Libertys and other well known brands.

Exhibitions for 2014 include:- Weetons, West Park Harrogate, Art Harrogate at Harrogate International Centre during the Tour de France 28th June to 5th July and Art in the Pen, Skipton in August.

Anita is passionate about colour, design and detail which she incorporates into each of her paper cuts.

She is inspired by nature, spending a lot of time outside in the countryside researching and creating each design onto paper and then carefully cutting each one out. Anita’s paper cuts take hours to complete and she incorporates her knowledge of fashion design and illustration. Anita is always looking for a new challenge and her work is getting more intricate by the day!!

Anita has recently been commissioned to create an Angel of the North paper cut which will be put onto Sheet metal. She has created three large paper cuts 1 metre long maps of York, Harrogate and Ilkley which took about a hundred hours to complete.

She also runs art and painting classes both in Harrogate and at Hazlewood Castle Hotel.
