Thinking about what to do with the kids over the Easter holidays? It’s always a bit of a challenge, isn't it? Trying to find something that everyone in the family will actually enjoy, from the youngest to the teens, and even the adults. Well, there's good news for anyone looking for a proper day of adventure. The brilliant North Yorkshire Water Park is getting ready to throw open its gates for the 2026 season, and it’s kicking things off with a massive two weeks of fun just in time for the school break. Whether you have a group of energetic thrill-seekers or friends who just want to try something new, this park has a whole host of activities planned, both on the land and in the water.

Get stuck in with land-based adventure

Before the big splash, the fun begins on dry land. From Saturday 28th March, the park’s popular land-based activities are back in action. Imagine heading into the Adventure Wood with your mates or family, ready to take on a day of challenges. It's the perfect way to get everyone away from their screens and out into the fresh Yorkshire air. There’s a whole menu of activities to choose from, meaning there’s something for every type of person.

For those who fancy themselves a bit of a Robin Hood, there’s archery, where you can see who has the sharpest aim. Or, for something a bit different, why not try axe throwing? It’s surprisingly satisfying when you hear that ‘thwack’ of the axe hitting the target. If you’re after a bit more action, you can go head-to-head in an outdoor laser tag battle. And for anyone who loves a good dose of adrenaline, the zip line and climbing wall will be ready and waiting to test your nerve. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to experience some high-energy fun that won’t break the bank. But the adventure doesn't stop there. For those who prefer a mental workout, the park offers immersive escape rooms. Get your team together, crack the codes, and see if you can beat the clock. It’s a proper test of teamwork.

Time to make a splash on the water

Of course, a visit to the North Yorkshire Water Park wouldn't be complete without getting on the water. A week after the land activities start, the water-based activities make their grand return. From Saturday 4th April, the park’s famous Aquapark will reopen for the 2026 season, bringing a whole new wave of excitement. This is where the real water adventure begins.

And this year, it’s bigger than ever. The Wipeout Aqua Park has had a major upgrade, with a big investment in brand-new inflatables. This has transformed it into one of the largest aqua courses in the whole of England. Picture it: a massive floating playground packed with giant slides, wobbly balance beams, swings, and loads of other brilliant new obstacles. It’s an unforgettable challenge that promises a lot of laughs and probably a few spectacular wipeouts! It’s the kind of experience that families and friends will be talking about for ages. If you’re keen to take on the new course, you can be one of the first to try it this Easter.

  • Wipeout Aqua Park: A huge inflatable course with new obstacles.

  • Kayaking: A more relaxed way to explore the water.

  • Paddleboarding: Find your balance and enjoy a scenic paddle.

But if a giant inflatable obstacle course sounds a bit too much, don’t worry. There are plenty of other water-based activities to enjoy. You can opt for a more chilled-out experience with kayaking or paddleboarding. It’s a lovely way to explore the lake at your own pace, suitable for all ages and abilities, and a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park.

More than just an adventure park

The North Yorkshire Water Park has a fascinating history. Located just outside Scarborough and managed by the Dawnay Estate, the site started life as specialist fishing lakes. Over the years, thanks to local sports clubs, it became a popular spot for sailing and swimming. The big change came in 2017 when the first AquaPark was launched, turning it into the adventure destination it is today. Further development has since added even more attractions, including a new 70-seat café and a dedicated events room, making the park a top-tier destination for a full day out.

After a day packed with activities, you’re going to need to refuel. Visitors can head to the newly refurbished on-site café, Forge Valley Roasters - Waterside. It’s the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and chat about the day’s adventure while tucking into some hearty food or warming up with a hot drink. The park is designed to offer a complete experience for families, combining thrilling activities with great facilities to ensure everyone has a brilliant time.

What the team has to say

The person overseeing all the fun is Jack Vinson, the Activities Manager at North Yorkshire Water Park. He and the team are clearly excited to get the new season underway and welcome everyone back for some Easter fun. He had this to say about the reopening:

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to North Yorkshire Water Park this Easter holiday. The Easter school break is the perfect time to get outside, try something new and enjoy a bit of adventure together as spring begins. With so many land-based and water-based activities on offer, there’s plenty for everyone to get involved in and have fun.”

It sounds like the whole team is ready to make this Easter one to remember for all the families, friends, and thrill-seekers who visit. All the Easter activities are now available to book online, so you can plan your adventure ahead of time and make sure you don’t miss out on the action.
